I went to the gym early this morning. Just like last time it was packed out. I got there 5 minutes after it opened (5am) and there were at least 5 times as many people there as when I usually work out at night. It’s a little weird to be surrounded by so many people after being used to one way. For some reason nobody like to work out at night. I guess that’s why I like it so much.
I got the chance to do a little people watching which is rare. As usual there were complete idiots doing their thing even at that ungodly hour. Two little dudes were going down the dumbbell rack doing bicep curls. I can get over that but they were standing right in front of the racks! How about some gym ettiqute? Luckily, they eventually moved on to the bicep curl bar and gave the rest of us a chance to actually lift. The complete lack of definition in their arms makes me smile.
I did uppers today so, of course, that made me no different then every other person there. A lot of people were using all those dumb machines that take up so much space. I wondered why they were there. They’re pretty popular in the morning.
Here are today’s stats.
Barbell Push Press – 4×120, 4×125, 8×115, 12×100
(I feel good about the weight I eventually got to but I worry about my wrists here. It’s not cool to have them bend back so far. No pain, though, so I guess I should stop being such a baby.)
Wide Grip Lat Pulldown – 4×150, 4×165, 8×150, 12×135
(I went up here but I didn’t like it. It’s difficult because you have to increase in 15 pound increments.)
Dumbbell Incline Bench Press – 4×60, 2×70, 12×55
(The 60’s weren’t that difficult so I figures I’d go for the 65’s. Only problem was that some dude was using them on the bench. After waiting a while I just took a chance with the 70’s. Got the first two done relatively easy but just hit a wall when I tried that third rep. Last time the set of 12 with the 50’s almost killed me. I went up anyway and really had to push to get the 55’s. Got it done though. Definitely hardest lift of the day.)
Cable Seated Row – 4×165, 4×180, 12×150
(Went up 15 pounds across the board here. I can go up again next time.)
Dumbbell Upper Body Russian Twist – 6×30, 6×30
(That 30 pound dumbbell makes this thing a lot more interesting. I should probably go up again. Keeping my balence is really my only concern.)
