I did it!!!!! I can’t freaking believe I did it!
The first 3 minute run was nothing.
The first 5 minute run was tough but it was a lot easier than Wednesday. I had a lot better wind this time. My legs hurt more on this run so that was the new challenge. I can fight through that though.
The second 3 minute run was tough but I still had my wind. That was amazing. I was huffing and puffing but I could breathe.
The last 5 minute run was the big challenge. I was OK at the start – a little winded but good to go. After about 2 minutes I was hurting something awful. I told myself to beat my old record of 3 minutes. Every second from that point I was thinking that I need to get to 3 1/2. Once I got to that point I focused on getting to 4 minutes. I’m dying at this point but I just focused on fighting my way through that last minute. I kept thinking how proud I would be if I did it. That got me through.
At the end it was a good thing I was alone in the gym. I could barely stifle a “YES!” Luckily it was muted but I was so happy I couldn’t control it.
I feel so awesome right now that I can’t believe it. I still think I might need to do week 4 over next week but I’ve actually got a lot of confidence going forward. I can see that 8 minute run in my future. It will be a while but I am psyched about breaking through the next barrier.
I am so glad I decided to do Couch to 5K.
